TCA Peels - Great results with just one Peel

A TCA skin peel is a medium depth peel (as compared to our Glycolic Peel which is a light peel) , which uses trichloroacetic acid to create a balanced, controlled exfoliation of several layers of damaged epidermis. This exposes a new, fresh layer of skin and pores with a more even colour and a smoother texture. In addition, the TCA peel stimulates new cells to grow, thereby tightening the skin and decreasing lines and wrinkles.

TCA Peels are suitable for most skin types. If you are ready to kick-start your skin rejuvenation with a medium depth medical-grade peel, then a TCA peel is ideal for you ! TCA peel is generally a one off treatment that has immediate results - within 5 to 7 days you will have a new, fresh layer of skin.

The Process

TCA is a non-toxic chemical, that is convenient and relatively painless. Usually associated with only 2-3 minutes of a burning and stinging sensation. The peel effectively removes the surface layers of aged and damaged skin from the face or other parts of the body. These dead skin cells are replaced by healthier ones, allowing the skin's own clarity and tightness to resurface. It comes with a few days down-time where your skin will look sunburned and feels tight. Peeling starts after day 2 or 3, and the healing process is completed after day 7 - 10. With this peel, the MediSpa technician applies several layers of TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) onto your face epidermis. This peel will achieve significant skin renewal as it diminishes large pores, wrinkles, and scars that appear in the epidermal skin layers.

The best choice would be to have the peel done on a Wednesday or Thursday,  allowing the weekend for peeling. Once the skin starts peeling off, amazing new “baby-skin” is coming through. During the time your skin peels, you should have no pain. Most people look a little strange during their peel, but if you don't mind your appearance you can go out and even go to work. The results this peel can achieve are absolutely worth it ! It is your ideal kick-start to rejuvenated skin, if you have not taken care of your skin in a long time. Afterwards, it is recommended to keep the exfoliation up with regular microdermabrasion treatments, and a good skin-care home maintenance program which continues to assist the exfoliation and cell-turnover.

Timing

After the initial consult and you have decided to go ahead with the treatment, the TCA peel is divided into three phases:

• Pre Peel - All TCA peels require a two week preparation time to "prime the skin" prior to the actual peel. In this time you will prepare the skin by daily use of Glycolic Creams or Retinol Cream.
• The Peel - While the actual TCA peel takes approximately 10 minutes we allow 30 minutes to prep the skin pre and post peel.
• Post treatment - Following your peel you will visit your MediSpa technician for two check-ups. Avoid all sun for two weeks and follow the post treatment care. Within 7 - 10  days you will have fresh new skin.
